Project Overview

The Haven of Grace provides a continuum of care for young, homeless pregnant women and their children in St. Louis. To reflect its multifaceted services and transformative impact, I designed and developed their Annual Impact Report, which serves as both a storytelling document and a case for continued philanthropic investment.

Objectives

  • Celebrate program achievements and community partnerships from the fiscal year

  • Communicate mission-aligned outcomes through visual storytelling

  • Engage and retain donors with heartfelt narratives and transparent financials

  • Illustrate long-term impact through testimonials and success metrics

  • Align content with brand values of dignity, hope, and empowerment

  • Full Annual Report layout (print & digital PDF formats)

  • Data visualization of program services and finances

  • Custom iconography and photography integration

  • Donor and volunteer recognition design

  • Story-driven impact section with testimonials from program graduates

Design & Messaging Approach

The report was built around the theme “Together We Made It Happen,” which informed both the visual identity and editorial tone. Clean, accessible typography was paired with warm, human-centered imagery and pastel accent colors to reflect nurturing and support. The report included:

  • Quantitative impact: 469 case management hours with shelter residents, 187 hours with transitional housing clients, 127 parenting class hours, and over 92% of residents meeting personal goals

  • Narrative success stories of former residents achieving degrees, jobs, and stable housing

  • Aftercare programming highlights showing a decade-long commitment to client success

  • Detailed financial reporting to promote transparency and fiscal responsibility

  • Volunteer and donor rosters to strengthen community connection and gratitude

Results

The impact report became a central tool in Haven of Grace’s development strategy, used in meetings with donors, foundations, and community stakeholders. It successfully communicated the organization’s ability to create lasting change—helping clients move from crisis to stability with dignity and support.
